DualSense vs DualSense Edge: differences

Both controllers work with PS5 games and have the same core features: haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, built-in microphone and motion sensors. The Edge adds customisation hardware and has a smaller battery.

What the Edge adds

  • Back buttons: two swappable pairs (half dome and lever).
  • Replaceable stick modules: each module can be swapped out.
  • Interchangeable stick caps: standard, high dome and low dome.
  • Remapping and profiles: button layout, stick sensitivity and dead zones, trigger dead zones and vibration intensity, saved to profiles. The Fn button plus Options opens the profile menu in game.

PC use

The DualSense Edge connects to a PC over USB or Bluetooth. The PlayStation Accessories app for Windows updates firmware and edits the profiles stored on the controller. Sony notes that haptics and adaptive triggers may require a USB connection on PC and game support.

Pairing

The DualSense pairs with a console over USB first. It can store up to four device pairings and switch between them. If a controller won’t connect, see DualSense connection problems.
