Switch Lite control sticks drifting or not responding

If you’ve paired wireless controllers to a Switch Lite, the built-in buttons and sticks can be switched off by the Console Button Input setting. Check that before anything else. The touch screen still works for navigating the menus.

Switch Lite control sticks not responding correctly

Symptoms
Built-in sticks drift, don't respond, or respond incorrectly.
Documented cause
Console Button Input switched off while wireless controllers are paired, outdated system software, uncalibrated sticks, or a hardware fault.[1]
  1. Turn Console Button Input on. If wireless controllers are paired, use the touch screen: System Settings → Controllers and Sensors → Console Button Input, set to On.[1]
  2. Update and calibrate. Install the latest system update, then use Calibrate Control Sticks. If the result isn't reflected right away, put the console to sleep and wake it.[1]
  3. Send the console for service. The sticks are built in, so if calibration fails the whole console needs service.[1]

Unlike Joy-Con, the Lite’s sticks can’t be sent in on their own: if calibration doesn’t fix them, the whole console goes for service. Joy-Con can still be used with the Lite as wireless controllers in the meantime.
