Which Nintendo Switch accessories work on Switch 2?
Most Nintendo Switch controllers work on Switch 2 over a wireless connection. The main exceptions are the dock and everything that attaches to a Joy-Con: none of those fit Joy-Con 2.

Controllers
The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller and the Nintendo Switch Online controllers for SNES, Nintendo 64 and SEGA Mega Drive pair wirelessly and charge from the Switch 2 dock over a USB cable. The NES controllers pair too, but like original Joy-Con they can’t attach to the console. They charge on a Nintendo Switch, a Joy-Con charging grip or a two-way charging stand. The retro controllers only work with compatible games.
The HOME Button on Nintendo Switch controllers can’t wake Switch 2 from sleep mode.
The Nintendo GameCube Controller Adapter works in TV mode, plugged into a USB port on the Switch 2 dock.
Original Joy-Con are covered in Joy-Con 2 vs Joy-Con.
Dock, power and cables
- Nintendo Switch dock: not compatible.
- Nintendo Switch AC adapter: charges a Switch 2 plugged in directly, but can’t run it in TV mode because of the different power output.
- HDMI cable from the Switch: Nintendo lists it as not compatible because the cable standards differ, and recommends the cable included with Switch 2.
Memory cards
Standard microSD, microSDHC and microSDXC cards can only import screenshots and videos from a Switch. Games need a microSD Express card. See Switch 2 microSD card requirements.
Joy-Con accessories
The Joy-Con strap, Joy-Con grip, Joy-Con charging grip, Joy-Con Wheel, leg strap, Ring-Con, Joy-Con AA battery pack and Joy-Con charging stand (two-way) don’t fit Joy-Con 2. They still work with original Joy-Con connected wirelessly to Switch 2. That’s how Ring Fit Adventure and the Nintendo Switch Sports leg-strap modes are played.
The Nintendo Switch stylus and the adjustable charging stand for Nintendo Switch are listed as compatible.
